The Circus

Last Wednesday we took went to the circus. We bought our tickets about a month in advance and had been using them as a bribe to get Sophie potty trained. She loves the movie Dumbo, so we were constantly telling her she would get to see Dumbo at the circus. I got really nervous a couple days before we were set to go because she out of the blue started saying that clowns were scary! So, I decided I would get her pumped up about the whole thing by visiting Ringling Bros. website and letting her check everything out. When we came to the elephants I very enthusiasticly said, "Look Soph...Dumbo!" She looked up at me like I was a complete idiot and said, "That is NOT Dumbo, Mommy! I want to see a baby elephant!" So...these two things combined with the fact that showtime was 7:30 and her normal bedtime is 8:00 we were prepared for a COMPLETE disaster. Thank goodness we were wrong!! She LOVED it!...and so did we. She was so cute. She sat in her own seat between us and clapped and cheered for all the acts. And when the elephants came out she looked up at me with the sweetest most excited expression and said, "Look Mommy!! Dumbo!!" She hasn't stopped talking about the circus since! Jack also seemed to enjoy himself. Jon and I had a blast, too. It was a great family outing and we can't wait to do it again next year!
